The sunflower calibrated in Moldova
The best soils for sunflower - various type chernozems, chestnut and gray forest soils. Are unsuitable sandy, salted and very sour. Badly grows also on heavy clay soils.
The sunflower is exacting to the nutritious mode. At average productivity of 20 c/hectare the sunflower takes out from the soil, on average, 110 kg/hectare of nitrogen, 50 kg of phosphorus and 250kg/hectare potassium. The most part of nutrients comes to plants to a blossoming phase.
During formation of 5-6 couples of leaves at sunflower the basket and all that quantity of flowers which will have a plant is put in a rudimentary form. The period from shoots prior to formation of a basket, depending on temperature and availability of nutrients and humidity makes 30-40 days. The period from the beginning of formation of a basket before blossoming is critical in relation to humidity of the soil. During this period about 50% of all consumed water and nutrients are spent.
